Rooftop Solar

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) implemented Rooftop Solar program phase-II in August 2019. Under this program, 4000 MW of Rooftop Solar (RTS) capacity addition was planned to be achieved through Central Financial Assistance (CFA). The program targets residential sector including households in urban and rural areas as well as group housing societies. This scheme was launched to help India meet its commitment to generate 40% of its electricity demand through non-fossil fuels by 2030.

Power Foundation of India launched a digital campaign to educate consumers about the benefits of rooftop solar system and guide them through the processes of obtaining one. The campaign also highlighted the financial incentives and subsidies provided by the Government of India. This pan-India initiative was launched on Facebook and Instagram.

Rights of Consumers

The Government of India issued a notification in December 2020 called Electricity (Rights of Consumers) Rules, 2020. These rules are pivotal in empowering electricity consumers and lay down responsibilities and standards for distribution companies (DISCOMs). The objective is to create a fair and accountable system and ensure a reliable, affordable, and quality electricity supply for consumers. The rules address issues related to billing and installation of meters and provide the consumers with a grievance redressal mechanism.

Power Foundation of India launched a pan-India campaign to create awareness through social media. The campaign was launched in six languages, including Hindi, English, Bengali, Odia, Punjabi and Assamese. Additionally, hoardings were set up across several states.

Samarth

The Ministry of Power has launched a mission called - SAMARTH- Sustainable Agrarian Mission on the Use of Agro-residue in Thermal Power Plants. The objective of the mission is to promote usage of agricultural residue in thermal power plants.

Power Foundation of India created a campaign to spread awareness about this initiative, targeting farmers, and highlighting the economic benefits of selling agricultural waste. The campaign included advertisements in English, Hindi and Punjabi, and were published in prominent newspapers in the states of Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, and UP.

Mission LiFE

Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the concept of ‘LiFE-Lifestyle for the Environment’ during the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) in Glasgow. This concept was propagated by way of an initiative called Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for the Environment), to promote a healthy and sustainable way of living based on ‘mindful and deliberate utilization, instead of mindless and destructive consumption’ to protect and preserve the environment.

Power Foundation of India launched a campaign on the above concept, highlighting the importance of balancing various elements of nature, specifically fire or Agni. The campaign was launched on social media.
